Factory in Canada
First of all it must be established that there never existed a Factory Records Canada but
a licensing deal only.
However, there was a very close cooperation between Factory/Factory USA and the Montreal-based label PolyGram Inc.
The records were distributed by Saint Laurent-based PolyGram Distribution Inc.
This discography features the PolyGram Inc. releases from 1980 until the end of 1987 (plus a few later DJ promos),
because of the unique numbering system used for the releases during that period (with a few exceptions, where the original
Factory numbers have been used).
In 1988 PolyGram dropped the special numbering system (except for DJ promos) and hence used generic six digit numbers
(i.e. 8xx xxx) only. These releases are not listed in this discography. Maybe just a coincidence, but in March 1988 the
complete Factory US activities ended, too.
Recent updates (February 2010)
Added information about second pressing of 7" FAC 26.
Rearranged the releases, now starting with first releases FAC 13 and FACT 10.
Removed FACT 400 video - no specific Canadian release.

Poster: CA 1983 (PolyGram Inc.) Notes: - Poster for the Canadian Joy Division back catalogue on PolyGram. - Michael Theriault: "It was 24" X 26". The format was landscape. This four colour non commercial poster had a white background with pack shots of each of the album covers and 12" singles. I have worked on this for sometime, I was truly pleased with the results. The feel was very clean and classic, reflecting and complementing Peter Saville's and Brett Wickens' work at the time."
